What is a Sports Massage?

Sports massage (also known as soft tissue therapy) is a targeted, therapeutic form of massage designed to treat and prevent issues in muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.

It's ideal for anyone with an active lifestyle — whether you're a runner, gym-goer, office worker with tension from sitting, or recovering from injury — not just elite athletes.

At Bodyfix Clinic in Stoneleigh, Epsom, our qualified sports massage therapists use hands-on assessment and tailored techniques to address your specific needs. We focus on improving circulation, releasing tight muscles, breaking down adhesions, reducing soreness, and supporting faster recovery so you can move better and feel stronger.

How our Sports MassageTherapists treat you

Our therapists apply a range of firm, effective techniques customised to your body and goals, including:

  • Deep tissue massage and kneading (petrissage)

  • Effleurage (gliding strokes) for warm-up and circulation

  • Myofascial release and trigger point therapy

  • Compression, wringing, and friction

  • Stretching and mobilisation

  • Active or assisted stretching

We adapt the pressure and style — from deeper work for stubborn knots to gentler approaches if preferred — ensuring it's comfortable yet effective.

Why choose Bodyfix Clinic for a Sports Massage?

Our therapists each bring their own expertise and approach, so you can find the one that suits you best. What sets us apart is our integrated team: we collaborate seamlessly with osteopaths, or other practitioners when needed for more comprehensive care (e.g., combining massage with osteopathic joint work or rehab exercises for quicker results).

Common issues our patients seek help with include:

  • Muscle tightness and soreness (including DOMS after workouts)

  • Back, neck, and shoulder tension

  • Sports injuries like strains, sprains, or overuse issues

  • Sciatica and leg pain

  • Headaches from postural strain

  • Reduced flexibility or range of motion

  • Recovery after intense training, events, or long days

  • Prevention of recurring niggles

Sports massage promotes better blood and lymph flow, reduces muscle tension, enhances flexibility, speeds up recovery, and helps lower injury risk — supporting your active life without relying on painkillers.

If you're feeling stiff, sore, or just want to optimise your performance and wellbeing, our sports massage therapists are ready to help you move freely again.
